As promised, the functionality for uploading themes and plugins has been restored. To use this functionality:

Log into the admin interface

 ONE TIME ONLY: Click Plugins and scroll down until  you see OneClick, and click Activate, this turns theme and plugin uploading functionality on.

I’m currently in the longish process of moving everyone over to the nice fast production server. You shouldn’t notice more than 5 minutes of site downtime when I do this, and it will happen only once.
